Autumn's Story is a documentary film about the miracle of birth and horrifying aftermath of a baby's struggle for survival in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The pregnancy, birth and NICU are painfully recorded and graphically seen through the eyes of the mother as she plummets into the darkest depths of despair.

Real time footage allows the viewer to witness a real life drama unfold. The film begins with a flashback in time showing a storybook marriage between a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and medical doctor that produces six beautiful children with a second set of twins on the way.

The luminous pregnancy starts to unravel when "Twin B" dies in utero and the mother's beloved obstetrician of eighteen years passes away.

The case is taken over by a high-risk specialist who misdiagnoses the surviving twin, almost resulting in a premature delivery and "Twin A's" fetal demise. At twenty-two weeks of pregnancy, a third obstetrician is consulted and his examination reveals the cervical cerclage stitches that were surgically placed to hold the baby inside the womb are beginning to rip out. The pregnancy is in jeopardy, once again.

A second cerclage surgery is performed by the new obstetrician to re-stitch the cervix shut. Hospitalizations and bed rest allow the mother to deliver her seventh baby, Autumn Grace, full term.

The peaceful birth, however, is interrupted when Autumn nurses for the first time and stops breathing. She is rushed to the NICU where a life threatening birth defect is found. Autumn's life is on the line. Shocking footage of horrific events chronicle a mother and child's journey through hell.

Postpartum recovery is replaced by postpartum depression and posttraumatic stress syndrome. The invaluable need for care, compassion and concern are intensely examined by the health care professionals. Prayer, suffering and medical attention are necessary for both mother and child to make it out of the NICU, alive.

Ultimately, two years after birth, inspiration and joy are euphorically felt by all when Autumn's health improves and her future appears hopefully bright. In the end, sacrifice, love, commitment and mother's milk pull the baby through and the family is triumphant.
